The Algerian government has set the goal of increasing the number of foreign visitors, including tourists, to 1.2 million by 2010. Algeria has now set a new target with the World Tourism Organization (WTO), which has increased the number of foreign tourists to Algeria to 20% annually between 2000 and 2005. Since November 2005, more than 140 building permits in the tourism sector have been granted by the Ministry to citizens wishing to invest in tourism infrastructure
